Mr Shigeki Tanaka is one of the youngest blacksmiths in Miki city, Gifu prefecture Japan. For over 100 years, Tanaka Knives has been operating as blacksmith. They started their business as a grass sickle maker. In 1994, they diversified into kitchen knives in 1994. Tanaka was trained by a traditional blacksmith in Takefu city, Fukui prefecture. Tanaka has created various knives with focus on his “Shigekisaku” brand. His knives are loved by all people domestically and internationally for its craftsmanship and daring designs. This beautiful hammered 17layer Damascus-pattern knife prevents stickiness and gives this knife a beautiful finish. VG-10 is a special steel made for cutlery in Japan and contains Chromium, Vanadium, Molybdenum and Cobalt. It is considered a “Super Steel” as it has very good resistance, sharpness and durability. You will rarely have to sharpen it and can trust its longevity of performance.
